Prolongations.org is pleased to present Rowland Revision, by artist Evan Curtis Charles Hall. The artwork coincides with the July 20, 2024 landmark exhibition and the John Rowland Mansion reopening in City of Industry, California, curated by Hall’s architectural preservation nonprofit House Museum.
“In preparation for our landmark exhibition at the John Rowland Mansion, Evan Curtis Charles Hall, artist and founding director at House Museum, creates a work that memorializes error and builds upon the authors of the site’s historical marker. As the field of preservation strives for permanence, the question of who is memorialized is ever present.“ (House Museum Website)
Rowland Revision exists somewhere between a digital historical plaque and a framed photograph. Hall’s physical artifacts collected from the John Rowland Mansion site are remade in the digital workshop before being output through the inkjet printer, framed and hung on the wall. All proceeds from Rowland Revision are donated to House Museum to support their mission of preserving historic landmarks by integrating site-specific artworks and community activations.
